BatteryPete Shows How Easy It Is To Install An Odyssey Battery In Your Car

BatteryPete Installs A PC1500 Odyssey Battery In A \’64 Impala SS

Pete is at it again, teaching us a thing or two about batteries.   Here he demonstrates and talks about installing an Odyssey Battery in your car.   His subject in this video is an American Classic.   A super clean 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS.   It received a complete drive train overhaul.   Fresh built 327ci V8 with upgraded internals, new crank, cam, pistons, heads, etc… increasing the compression to need a lot more power to crank the motor.   Solution was installing the 34-PC1500 Odyssey AGM Battery.

The Odyssey 34-PC1500T is a 12 volt 1500CA/880CCA 65 Ah drycell battery w/ automotive SAE terminals capable of delivering 1500 cranking amps and 880 cold cranking amps.   The 34-PC1500T Odyssey Battery can be completely discharged and recharged over 400 times without any signs of decreasing capacity.   These elements combine to make one of the most powerful cranking batteries on the market with \”true\” deep cycle capabilities.   The pure lead design is resistant to corrosion and sulfating, which is the major cause of battery failure.   The 34-PC1500T is a 34 battery found in many American and foreign made automobiles.   It can be charged at 50 amps and up to 15.2 volts by any lead acid charger or automotive alternator.   We recommend the Noco Genius line of chargers listed in the related products for external charging because it matches the unique charging signature of Odyssey batteries.

Twice the overall power and three times the service life of conventional batteries

Some batteries offer enormous cranking power.   Others offer deep cycle reserve power.   Unbeatable ODYSSEY® Extreme Series™ batteries do both.   Even at very low temperatures, ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries have the power to provide engine-cranking pulses in excess of 2250 amps for 5 seconds – double to triple that of equally sized conventional batteries.   And they can handle 400 charge-discharge cycles to 80% depth of discharge.

How so much power is possible

ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries are made with flat plates made of 99.99% pure lead – not lead alloy.   Pure lead plates can be made thinner, so more can fit in the battery.   More ODYSSEY battery plates mean more plate surface area.   And that means more power – twice as much as conventional batteries.

Packed with more power

Like many popular spiral-wound batteries, ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries employ dry cell Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) technology to contain acid, allowing the battery to be installed even on its side.   But the densely packed flat plates in an ODYSSEY Extreme Series battery avoid the “dead space” between cylinders in a “six pack” design.   The result is 15% more plate surface area — and that translates to more power!

Phenomenal starting power and massive deep cycle reserve power in one battery

Some batteries provide enormous cranking power.   Others, deep cycle reserve power.   The revolutionary ODYSSEY® battery is designed to do both.

How is this possible?   The answer begins with flat plates made of 99.99% pure virgin lead, not lead alloy.   Pure lead plates can be made thinner, so more can fit in the battery.   More ODYSSEY battery plates mean more plate surface area.   And that means more power… twice as much as conventional batteries.

In fact, ODYSSEY batteries are capable of providing engine cranking pulses in excess of 2250 amps for 5 seconds – double to triple that of equally sized conventional batteries, even at very low temperatures.   And they can handle 400 charge-discharge cycles to 80% depth of discharge.

This extreme combination of power and performance makes ODYSSEY batteries perfect for a range of applications, including automotive/LTV, marine, commercial, and powersports.
