How Does The 7 Stage ArkPak Charging System Work
The All New ArkPak 730 is a engineering homerun. Kudos to The Ark Corporation for someone finally listening to the outdoormans needs. In this day and age even if we want to get away from the hussle and bustle of daily life we still need to be connected in someone. So you need power! Not everyone thinks of camping as the same thing. I can get by for a week on the trail with my favorite hiking boots, a walking stick, backpack, survival knife, water jugs, a change of clothes, tent and sleeping bag. My wife would want a 40′ Rv. Regardless the point is power is always needed in the wilderness when you are off the grid. The ArkPak 715 and the Arkpak 730 fulfill that need. If you are dry camping for the weekend with the family it is the perfect solution to charge multiple devices at once or run a flat screen tv because nobody wants to miss there favorite sitcom on Netflix. ArkPak comes with some pretty cool features. One is the built in charging system. Which is what we will talk about today for a minute or two. The Arkpak integrated battery charger is a smart charger that has 7 stages to do the job. It is also compatible with multiple battery chemistry like Traditional Lead Acid, AGM Technology, GEL technology, and even Lithium Battery Technology. So this a great if you want to use a battery that will last and not leak all over your beautiful new ArkPAk. (Avoid the Lead Acid type of battery, even if they are the cheapest solution to powering your ArkPAk. They are dirty, messy, and can be dangerous. The main reason is they are not a totally sealed battery as the other chemistry discussed herein, they are also vented to release gases that are created during discharging.)
That Charging cycles that are implemented in your new power source are very functional and precise. This will allow for years of life from a good quality AGM type battery – Granted you plug it in to AC power to charge and maintain until you need it again when you step off the grid. Here are the following charging cycles and the characteristics of each. The 7 stage smart charger will monitor your battery to optimize performance:
Stage 1: Charge
Commences recovery of your battery back to peak voltage. Then charges the battery at 6 amps up to a set voltage, at which point the battery is approximately 90% charged.
Stage 2: Testing
Checks the battery capacity and predicts the hours left until fully charged.
Stage 3: Bulk
The period just before boost when the volts are constant.
Stage 4: Boost
Peak charge for maximum performance. Battery is charged for 4 hours at constant voltage.
Stage 5: Resting
Allows the battery to consolidate after boost. The ArkPak ceases charging and allows the battery to rest while allowing voltage to drop to 13.2V.
Stage 6: Float
This maintains performance and prolongs battery life – as your battery is continually monitored and the voltage is maintained at 13.2V by automatically adjusting charge current for 500 hours.
Stage 7: Re-awaken
This exercises the battery and avoids sulphation build-up. After 500 hours of conditioning the charger automatically returns to charge cycle.
